Immediate Response 

On 8th October 2005 at 8.30 am, during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, an earthquake of 7.6 on the Richter scale ripped through the Northwest frontier of Pakistan.
The earthquake lasted 73 seconds killing 73,000 people and leaving 120,000 injured.   Read More....


 Early Response

MiST Foundation sent their first team to Rawalpindi, Pakistan in November 2005, 4 weeks after the earthquake. The Rawalpindi eye hospital was a private institution, and part of it had been converted into a trauma hospital to help cope with the large number of casualties.   Read More.... 


 Late Response

Following a meeting with the President Musharraf of Pakistan, MiST Foundation were allocated Ayub Medical College (AMC), Abbottabad to set up a Limb Reconstruction Unit. AMC was chosen because its close proximity to the earthquake’s epicentre, the large number of patients still requiring treatment and thus patients would not have to travel far out of the region for specialist treatment.   Read More....

My journey with MIST Foundation started soon after the devastating earthquake that shook the northern areas of Pakistan and Kashmir.
On the 08th October 2005 thousands of people were killed and hundreds of thousands were left injured.
